Literature Text

Ravens in sky
Priests beneath it
And I - between them
In a pale shirt fitted.
I lie in vastness
So fair, so light now
And the sun is much older;
The wind is much younger.

They sang me off in the temple so hazy,
A Bride I was; a beauteous lady,
My spirit before me was standing and singing,
But people stood blindly;
At body kept blinking.

The fate and the prayer switched places so strangely;
My beloved one was silent, 'neath candlelight standing,
The waves of light had barely lit him.
I forgave him all. I have always forgiven.

The Spring had shivered from mourning of bells,
Three shimmering drops fell on ikon's bleak face
which peacefully rested 'neath blighted pale hands;
It was being kissed now with a tongue of red flames.

The candlelight died and the thurible waved,
The earth moaning sadly soon turned into grave,
I left for the skies, after wind I had run,
At freedom I flew; a white bird I've become...
This is originally a song by a Russian band "DDT" ("ДДТ") named "Ravens" ("Вороны") which is sung in Russian. However I felt a strong urge to translate this into English and thus challenge myself to try something new :) Here's the song [link]

Note: I didn't translate the last verse as I felt that this way the ending seems more complete.

Ohhhh, I'm SO EXITED! I didn't even think that somebody will translate this great song. It often makes me cry sometimes at the end. Thank you. Just thank you.
